Barbara Kruger is known for taking already famous images and writing her own words and opinions over them in white letters with a red strip behind the letters. In these pictures, Kruger tackles issues of individualism, sexism, politics, body image, self harm, drug use, society in genreal, amongst other things. The images are usually in black and white. The original intended purpose of the original photographs, however, are often times going against the point Kruger tries to make. After sampling the pictures, it's safe to assume Kruger wishes to represent feminist, liberal, and body positivity. Kruger has taught in three different universities, two specific art universities. Also, her background in design, directing, graphic design, and editing has given her the ability to change iconic images into atypical works of art.
