Something I find interesting about Diane is that she didn't have a lot of pain in her life since she was born into a wealthy (and therefore privileged family). To me, it seems like a lot of artists' creativity stems from some kind of pain in their lives, past or present. As far as Arbus' photography goes, she is known for taking both commericial and non commericial photographs. Commercially, Arbus photographed fashion but eventually left that field. After venturing away from commericial photography, Arbus began taking pictures of the unordinary or unfamous. When searching for a picture to respond to, I immediately got the feeling that Arbus photographed people in natural states -- whether that meant working, in their homes, or with curlers in their hair.
